EPSS Lecture: Whither EU-US Relations?



On 21 September (18.00 – 20.00) the Global Governance Institute (GGI), in cooperation with Vesalius College Brussels, the Institute for European Studies and the Belgian Royal Military Academy will organise the next European Peace & Security Studies Lecture (EPSS) Lecture.

The Lecture will focus on the theme of “Whither EU-US Relations?“.

Speaker:

Fernando Andresen Guimarães, European External Action Service (EEAS)

Fernando Andresen Guimarães has served in the European External Action Service since its inception and is currently Head of the Russia Division. From October 2011 to August 2015, he was the Head of the EEAS United States and Canada Division. Prior to that, he was the EEAS advisor for multilateral relations.

From 2004 to 2010, he was the Diplomatic Advisor to the President of the European Commission. He also served previously in the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations and with the Portuguese Foreign Service at the Permanent Mission to the UN in New York) from 1992 to 2003.

He received his Ph.D. from the London School of Economics and Political Science (1992). His book, The Origins of the Angolan Civil War, was published by Palgrave in 1998.
