In the political analysis, the major political parties and the political structure are presented to give a sense of the political direction that could be taken in the short-term. The foreign policy profile exposes the national priorities and key relations on the regional and international scenes, with emphasis on the European Union perspective. The peace and security policy section includes a general evaluation of the country’s approach to peace and security in terms of alliances, contributions, and focus. It also introduces an examination of each country’s role in various international organizations (including the European Union, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, and the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, and the Council of Europe) as well as an evaluation of the national strategic culture. The economic policy profile advances the national macroeconomic policy and performance, focusing on recovery from the 2007-2008 financial and economic crisis in a European perspective, as well as a description of the country’s economic diplomacy and foreign trade. Finally, other diplomatic priorities that were not covered in the previous sections are mentioned, at the European level and the global level.
