Joachim Koops, Chair of the Board of the Global Governance Institute, was interviewed on 11 February 2026 by the Swedish national newspaper ‘Aftonbladet’ on irregularities in the European Parliament related to Swedish MEP Jörgen Warborn and his position on weakening EU climate regulations. In his interview, Koops referred to external pressures from US fossil fuel lobby groups on the one hand and increasingly concerted efforts of US MAGA channels, European far-right parties and European centre-right parties to roll back EU climate negotiations on the other hand.
