Peace and Security

Adriana Maria Quaranta studies how public policy and institutional design can constrain power, prevent corruption, and strengthen the rule of law. Her work combines policy analysis, legal research, and quantitative methods to examine how governance frameworks shape accountability and public integrity, particularly in contexts of institutional fragility and security challenges.

Before joining the Chair of Law and Economics at the University of Zurich, Adriana worked on anti-corruption, public procurement, and public financial governance for South Africa’s National Treasury. Earlier, she was a Postgraduate Research Associate at Yale’s Institution for Social and Policy Studies, where she worked on American political economy, with a focus on the relationship between markets, regulation, and democratic institutions. She was also a Visiting Student in International Law at Yale Law School. She holds an MSc in Sociology, with a focus on Advanced Quantitative Methods, from the University of Oxford, where she conducted policy research at the Blavatnik School of Government and taught undergraduate tutorials. She holds a BSc in International Economics and Management from Bocconi University.
