On 25 May 2026, the Global Governance Institute hosted a group of students from the University of Pittsburgh's European Studies Center for an afternoon of lectures and discussion. This study visit was part of their course "Brussels Decoded: An Expedition into EU Policymaking."

Prof. Joachim Koops, GGI Chair of the Board, opened the session with an introduction to GGI and the role of think tanks in Brussels, followed by a discussion on the EU's role in security and global affairs and the question of strategic autonomy. Prof. Christopher Lamont, GGI Head of AI Governance, then led a session on EU AI governance and the dynamics of US-China competition in the field.

The visit gave participants a first-hand look at how a Brussels-based think tank approaches questions of global governance, security and technology policy, and offered an opportunity for direct exchange with GGI's research team.
