
Zaid Adelby is a Democracy and Human Rights Fellow. He is a humanitarian professional with over ten years of experience working with international organizations in Jordan, primarily with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). His work has focused on protection, programme coordination, and operational support in complex humanitarian settings, with an emphasis on accountability, localization, and collaboration across functions. Throughout his career, Zaid has worked closely with government counterparts and local organizations, UN agencies, NGOs, and civil society organizations, supporting the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of donor-funded projects.
Zaid has contributed to analytical research, policy briefs, and donor reports that draw on qualitative and quantitative data collected from operations, monitoring platforms, and stakeholder consultations. He has experience translating complex field realities into clear written outputs, including research notes, analytical reports, briefing papers, and advocacy related documentation intended for decision makers, donors, and partners. His research work has included collaboration with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) on trafficking in persons, where he supported data collection, analysis and the development of policy-relevant findings. Zaid holds a Master’s degree in Diplomatic Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. He is fluent in Arabic and English and has extensive experience working in multicultural and high-pressure environments. His professional interests include humanitarian affairs, localization, Islamic philanthropy, policy analysis, and strengthening institutional and operational systems to better serve displaced and vulnerable populations.
